About The Position

The Elgin School District is looking for a bus driver for the 2026-2027 school year. The Elgin SD is located in Union County, Oregon in the town of Elgin. We serve a small community grades PreK-12.

Requirements

• Valid Oregon Driver's License.
• Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with School Bus Endorsement.
• Clean driving record.
• Ability to pass a background check.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
• First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to operate a school bus safely and efficiently.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Reliability and punctuality.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience as a school bus driver.
• Experience working with children.
• Knowledge of rural routes and road conditions in the Elgin area.

Responsibilities

• Drive a school bus on assigned routes.
• Transport students safely to and from school and school-related activities.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of students during transport.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Maintain cleanliness of the bus interior.
• Adhere to all traffic laws and school district policies.
• Report any mechanical issues or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff.

Benefits

• Hourly Rate: $20.17-$31.28 (dependent on experience)
• Route Rate: $41.00 per route
• Additional Route Pay: $20.00 for days exceeding 2 hours of total route time
• Mileage Rate: $.55 per mile
• Wait Time Rate: $20.17 per hour
• Contract Days: 166 days
• 4 days per week schedule
