About The Position

ImagineX is a technology company that deploys AI-assisted teams to build and secure mission-critical enterprise solutions across software, data, and AI. The company serves clients across the U.S. and LATAM and describes its model as combining deep technical expertise with the agility of a boutique firm and the scale of an enterprise.

The Ruby On Rails Developer will work on a dedicated client project, building and maintaining full-stack features across the client's Ruby on Rails back end and Vue.js front end. The developer will own work from database design through the user interface and deliver reliable, well-tested code in collaboration with the ImagineX team and client stakeholders. Rails and Vue.js are the core technologies for this engagement, while experience with other languages is also valued. This is a 100% remote role, open to full-time employment or 1099 contracting, and is limited to U.S. citizens and permanent residents who do not require visa sponsorship.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional experience building web applications with Ruby on Rails.
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience with Vue.js; Vue 3 and the Composition API are preferred.
• Experience with relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL, and ActiveRecord.
• Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs.
• A habit of writing automated tests and practical experience with test-driven development.
• Comfort with Git, pull-request workflows, and CI/CD tools.
• Consulting or client-facing experience, including working directly with client stakeholders on requirements.
• Experience using AI coding assistants such as Claude for development, debugging, refactoring, and test writing, with the judgment to review and verify AI-generated code.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and not require visa sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

• Versatility across multiple programming languages such as Go, Java, Python, TypeScript, or Node.js, and comfort learning new languages as client needs change.
• Experience with Vue 3 and the Composition API.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain features in a Ruby on Rails application, including models, controllers, background jobs, and APIs.
• Build responsive, reusable Vue.js front-end components and connect them to Rails through REST or GraphQL APIs.
• Write automated tests using tools such as RSpec, Minitest, Jest, or Vitest, and maintain high coverage on new code.
• Design database schemas and write efficient PostgreSQL queries; diagnose slow queries and N+1 issues.
• Review teammates' pull requests and provide clear, constructive feedback.
• Work with product, design, and QA to scope features, estimate work, and deliver in short iterations.
• Monitor, debug, and fix production issues, and help improve deployment and CI/CD pipelines.
• Keep dependencies current, including Rails and Vue upgrades, and reduce technical debt.
