About The Position

Perform RTK GPS boundary mapping, prepares machine setup files for FS equipment, works closely with Data Management Specialist and Operations personnel, and provides technical support to FS agronomy locations. This role is crucial for developing RTK mapping strategies, gathering RTK data using a UTV, and creating field boundaries and analytics. The specialist will also be responsible for documenting location information, transferring and updating field data between mapping platforms, and creating precision setup data files for location machines. Additionally, the role involves driving a company vehicle to customer field locations, assisting with training and troubleshooting for FS agronomy operations personnel, and attending technical training sessions and meetings.

Requirements

• Associate degree in an agriculture or the equivalent thereof
• 1-2 years or more of related work experience in GIS/GPS to demonstrate knowledge of precision technology
• Ability to work extended hours as business conditions warrant
• Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.

Responsibilities

• Develops RTK mapping strategy and performs RTK GPS mapping functions
• Utilizes UTV to gather RTK data, developing field boundaries and analytics
• Documents location information to maintain accuracy, returns information to designated company location equipment for application
• Serves as the information link between Data Management Specialist and Agronomy Operations and serves as a contact person on all matters relating to precision farming
• Responsible for the transferring and updating of field information between all mapping platforms (example Agvance Sky Mapping, MyJD Ops Center)
• Create precision setup data files and import into location machines
• Drives company vehicle, with trailer in tow, to designated customer crop field locations
• Assist in training, troubleshooting, and provide technical support to FS agronomy operations personnel
• Attends/participates in scheduled technical training sessions and meetings
• Performs crop scouting duties for producer acres based on workload or seasonal demands
• Assists with soil sampling
• Maintain knowledge of current and new technology in Precision Farming
• Attends all meetings, trainings and seminars as assigned
• Assist DVS Team with special projects
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
