About The Position

This position answers to the Commander of the Support Bureau in the Police Department. This is a non-sworn position. The Real Time Information Center Analyst collects, analyzes and interprets crime and operational data to support patrol, investigations and command staff. This position provides real-time and near-real-time intelligence during active incidents and supports proactive crime reduction efforts using modern law enforcement technology, including video systems, and mapping tools. This position is classified as an Essential personnel classification for Emergency Response. This means that during an emergency response this position is required to report directly after an emergency. Essential status is defined as employees whose duties are vital to maintain basic municipal functions during an emergency.

Requirements

  • Proficient in crime analysis principles, pattern analysis, and basic forecasting methods
  • Knowledgeable in RTIC operations and intelligence-led policing concepts
  • Experience in law enforcement data systems (CAD,RMS) and public safety data sources.
  • Knowledge in Drone as First Responder (DFR) concepts and applicable regulations
  • Must possess integrity and confidentiality in privacy matters, data security, and uphold all confidentiality standards.
  • Ability to produce clear, actionable intelligence products.
  • Ability to utilize analytical software, mapping tools, databases, and law enforcement systems.
  • Ability to monitor and interpret live video and real-time information feeds.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational setting.
  • Ability to identify patterns, trends and relationships in crime data.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Data Analytics Statistics, Information Systems, Public Administration or a closely related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Proven experience in performing analytical research or data-driven work.
  • Proven experience using computer systems, databases or analytical tools to organize and present information.
  • Must possess a valid Mississippi Driver’s License.
  • Must obtain and maintain a FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate and any additional certifications required by the department’s drone/DFR program.

Nice To Haves

  • Proven experience in law enforcement, public safety, RTIC operations, GIS/mapping, or technology-based programs is preferred but not required.
  • May be required to complete a basic Crime Analyst training course.

Responsibilities

  • Collects, analyzes, and interprets crime and operational data to identify trends, patterns, and emerging criminal activity.
  • Provides real-time and near-real-time analytical support during active incidents, patrol operations, investigations, and command level decision-making.
  • Maintains situational awareness during critical incidents by synthesizing and evaluating information from multiple data sources.
  • Utilizes Records Management System (RMS) and Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD), video management systems, License Plate Recognition (LPR) data, mapping software, and other law enforcement technologies to support operations and investigations.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with patrol, dispatch, investigators, command staff, and partner agencies to ensure timely information sharing.
  • Participates in training related to crime analysis, RTIC operations, intelligence analysis, and DFR technologies.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
