About The Position

Drives minibus to provide the safe transportation of passengers and by performing the following duties. This role requires adherence to safety protocols, excellent customer service, and the ability to manage various on-road situations effectively.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Safe driving record and clean criminal history.
  • Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers; ability to print and speak in simple sentences.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 1O's and 1OO's; ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions; ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
  • Valid Texas Driver License in good standing
  • Must be able to obtain CDL Class A with passenger endorsement
  • Must be willing to take RTA special training.

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure proper operating condition of the vehicle and on-board equipment.
  • Ensure safe and clean vehicle condition at the start and end of each shift.
  • Ensure vehicle is fueled, properly maintenance and stocked with the proper accessories at the start and end of each shift.
  • Successfully perform scheduled manifest by picking up all clients on time and delivering them to their destinations safely and within a reasonable time frame according to the assigned schedule.
  • Provide excellent customer service including assistance in boarding, supplying information, and responding appropriately in the event of emergency.
  • Ensure passengers' wheelchairs are safely secured by appropriate on-board restraints to stabilize wheelchairs during trip.
  • Keeps documentation of mileage, passenger information, time of pickups and drop-offs.
  • Adjusts to variables in normal working conditions, including adverse weather, traffic and construction, passenger problems, accidents and trip changes.
  • Diffuse difficult situations and maintain order onboard vehicle.
  • Accurately collect and reconcile cash fares collected from customers.
  • Employ all techniques of defensive driving to minimize the risk of preventable and non-preventable accidents and/or passenger injuries.
  • Protect passengers and secure vehicle in the event of accident or injury and communicate effectively with dispatch and operations staff.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
