RPG/iSeries Developer 3
About The Position
Knight is looking for a dynamic AS400 Developer with 5+ years of programming experience in RPG/iSeries. The role involves designing and developing applications based on business end-user needs, participating in agile teams, and performing program design, coding, testing, development, and documentation of complex programs. The developer will review Functional Requirements Documents, consult with business leaders, and participate in integration, training, and implementation activities. They will also assist with technical specifications, development approaches, and time requirements, report status updates, and provide solutions to project delays. Continuous refinement of technical and business skills through training and conferences is expected, along with proactively assisting others to achieve organizational objectives.
Requirements
- 8+ years programming experience required.
- 5+ years RPG (Report Program Generator) programming experience required.
- Bachelors in computer science or related field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience required.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to prioritize and plan work activities appropriately.
- Must be able to multi-task.
- Must be able to collaborate with others.
Nice To Haves
- SQL experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop applications based on business end-user needs with little or no guidance.
- Participate in agile teams as needed.
- Perform program design, coding, testing, development, and documentation activities of complex programs.
- Review Functional Requirements Documents (FRDs) and determine necessary follow up questions to clarify expectations and estimated amount of time to complete code changes.
- Consult with business leaders to gain deeper understanding of request.
- Participate in integration, training, and implementation activities.
- Assist with the development of technical specifications, development approaches, and time requirements for average projects or packaged software implementation.
- Report status updates accurately to IT and/or business leaders.
- Provide workable solutions to fix project delays.
- Refine and update technical/business skills and experience through work assignments, advanced technical/business training and attending professional/business industry conferences.
- Proactively work to assist others in achieving the organization's objectives.
