About The Position

We are looking for a detail-oriented Royalty Specialist to join our team and support the royalty operations. In this role, you will oversee the royalty statement cycle, ensure accurate calculations and timely payments, maintain royalty contracts and data, and work closely with cross-functional teams to resolve queries and support audits. This is an opportunity to combine your expertise in royalty administration and accounting with a strong focus on process improvement, data accuracy, and innovation. You will also contribute to automation and AI initiatives within our Global Royalty team, helping us continuously improve the way we work.

Requirements

• 3+ years in royalty administration / accounting, ideally in music publishing, print music or book publishing.
• Understanding of royalty contract terms: rates, advances, recoupment, reserves, splits, sub-publishing.
• Strong Excel (pivot tables, lookups); experience with large data sets; SQL or legacy ERP/royalty systems (AS/400) is a plus.
• High accuracy and attention to detail; able to own a deadline-driven cycle.
• Clear written and verbal communication in English with external payees and internal stakeholders.
• Comfortable working in a distributed team across time zones (US / Europe).

Responsibilities

• Run the US royalty statement cycle: data preparation, calculation checks, review and release of statements on schedule.
• Set up and maintain royalty contracts, payees, rates and splits in the royalty system (IBM i / AS/400); keep MTX and overrides up to date.
• Reconcile royalty accruals and payments with Finance; prepare payment files and month/quarter-end reports.
• Handle inquiries from authors, composers, publishers and agents; resolve statement discrepancies.
• Support royalty audits (internal and licensor/author audits) — collect data, explain calculations.
• Work with Licensing, Legal, Finance and Content teams on new and amended agreements.
• Document processes and take part in automation/AI initiatives of the Global Royalty team.
