About The Position

This is a relief position where the driver is responsible for driving a truck over an established route to deliver and sell products or render services of the dairy industry to customer's places of business. The driver must adhere to all Department of Transportation regulations. Responsibilities include collecting money, making change, recording transactions, writing customer orders, soliciting new business, informing customers of new products, and resolving service complaints. The role involves physical tasks such as loading and unloading product, placing stock on shelves, setting up displays, issuing promotional materials, collecting unsold merchandise, and stacking/unstacking items weighing up to 50 pounds. The driver will also drag stacks of milk weighing approximately 240 pounds and work in extreme hot and cool environments, primarily outdoors in various conditions. The successful candidate must maintain truck cleanliness, perform routine maintenance, and operate the vehicle safely and courteously.

Requirements

  • Must have a Class A or B commercial driver’s license
  • Minimum Age: 21, as per Federal D.O.T. regulations
  • Must be able to pass a D.O.T. Physical and Drug Screen
  • Past route sales experience and a good driving record preferred

Responsibilities

  • Drives truck over established route to deliver and sell products or render services of the dairy industry to customer’s place of business.
  • Follow all Department of Transportation regulations.
  • Collects money from customers, makes change, and records transactions on customer receipt.
  • Writes customer orders and instructions; records sales or delivery information on daily sales or delivery record.
  • Calls on prospective customers to solicit new business.
  • Prepares order forms and sales contracts.
  • Informs regular customers of new products or services.
  • Listens to and resolves service complaints.
  • Climbs, crawls, and walks in an upright as well as a bent position to facilitate loading and unloading product, placing stock on shelves or racks, setting up merchandise and sales promotion displays, issuing sales promotion materials, and collecting or picking up empty containers or rejected or unsold merchandise.
  • Stacks and unstacks items weighing 50 pounds from a height of approximately seven feet to the ground and back continually.
  • Drags stacks of milk weighing approximately 240 pounds, throughout the shift.
  • Loads and unloads truck and carries merchandise.
  • Works in very hot (100+) and very cool (less than 32) environments throughout the year.
  • Works outside most of the time, regardless of the conditions.
  • Keeps the inside of the truck clean.
  • Performs routine maintenance on truck.
  • Works and drives in a safe, courteous and efficient manner.
