About The Position

Canteen is hiring a full-time Route Driver for its SmartService operation in Durham, North Carolina. The driver operates a company vehicle over an established route to deliver products, maintain vending-machine inventory, and provide excellent service to clients and customers. The position has a fixed pay rate of $21.25 per hour; Canteen driving roles may also include commission eligibility. The driver prepares and loads the truck before each route, services vending machines using a hand cart, rotates products for freshness, and keeps machine inventory data accurate using a handheld computer. Duties also include cleaning and sanitizing machines, performing minor service adjustments, reporting defective equipment, responding to customer concerns, promoting new products, reconciling inventory and delivery records, and keeping the company vehicle clean and organized. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with a 5:00 a.m. start time and rotational Saturdays required. Applicants must have a valid driver's license and three years of driving experience. The role requires consistently lifting up to 50 pounds. Previous route driving experience is preferred, as is customer-service experience. Requirements

Three years of driving experience.
Valid driver's license and ability to safely operate company vehicles in accordance with traffic laws and conditions.
Ability to consistently lift 50 pounds.
Previous route driving experience is preferred.
One to two years of customer-service experience is preferred, or at least one year of related experience.
Work Monday through Friday with a 5:00 a.m. start time and rotational Saturdays.

Responsibilities

Ensure the truck is properly loaded with products needed to service scheduled machines before starting each route.
Maintain appropriate inventory levels and product distribution for vending machines.
Load product totes onto a hand cart, service machines, and return empty totes to the truck.
Rotate products to ensure freshness at client locations.
Provide client and customer satisfaction in all aspects of job performance.
Clean and sanitize vending machines and related equipment routinely.
Perform minor machine service and adjustments; report defective equipment to the designated maintenance service operator or technician dispatcher when necessary.
Maintain accurate machine product and inventory data using a handheld computer.
Inform regular clients and customers about new products or services.
Listen to and resolve service complaints, and promptly report complaints to the immediate supervisor.
Set up merchandise and sales-promotion displays or distribute promotional materials to customers.
Account for goods, invoices, delivery tickets, cash received or collected, and product.
Reconcile inventory according to established procedures.
Keep the company vehicle clean and organized, and perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections.
Perform other duties as assigned.
