About The Position

Canteen is hiring a full-time Route Driver to drive a company vehicle along an established route, deliver products or render services, and fill and maintain vending and related equipment. The Route Driver represents the company and is expected to maintain a professional, positive image while building and maintaining strong client and customer relationships. The role offers advancement opportunities and can provide a foundation for entry-level management positions. The position is based at Canteen, 1075 US Highway 80 East, Abilene, Texas. The schedule averages 50 hours per week; days and hours may vary, with further details provided during the interview. The fixed pay rate is $20.00 per hour, and the role may include commission eligibility. A $2,500 sign-on bonus is advertised. Previous route sales or merchandising experience is preferred.

Requirements

At least 3 years of driving experience.
Valid Non-CDL Class C driver's license, unless otherwise indicated by state, and ability to safely operate company vehicles in accordance with traffic laws and conditions.
Ability to lift 50 pounds consistently.
Ability to work independently and take responsibility for a route while working unsupervised for 98% of the workday.

Nice To Haves

Previous route sales or merchandising experience.
One to two years of customer service experience, or at least one year of related experience.
Proficiency with a handheld computer; training is provided.
Ability to operate, or willingness to learn to operate, material-handling equipment such as a box truck and handcarts.

Responsibilities

Maintain appropriate inventory levels and distribute products for vending machines.
Rotate products to ensure freshness at designated client locations.
Promote client and customer satisfaction in all aspects of job performance.
Inform regular clients and customers about new products or services, and listen to and resolve service complaints.
Set up merchandise and sales promotion displays or provide sales promotion materials to customers.
Account for receipts of goods, invoices, delivery tickets, cash received or collected, and products.
Perform other duties as assigned.
