About The Position

Meyer is a growing, family-owned and operated company seeking an experienced Box Truck Driver. The driver operates company trucks to make route deliveries, completes paperwork, and works with internal departments to ensure products are delivered to customers on time while complying with DOT regulations. The role involves driving 26–28-foot box trucks or other commercial motor vehicles over 10,001 lbs., loading and unloading deliveries, vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance, and communication with Fleet Management about truck maintenance. Heavy lifting of 75+ lbs. is required. The position pays $23.00 per hour and averages 40 hours per week. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with a 5:00 a.m. start and an end time of 4:00 p.m. that varies most days based on workload and coverage. A quarterly driver safety bonus is offered.

Requirements

1–3 years of previous experience driving 26–28-foot box trucks or another commercial motor vehicle over 10,001 lbs.
Valid truck driver license and the relevant endorsement for the specific state.
Willingness to submit to drug screens and background checks.
Maintain a valid DOT medical examiner’s card.
No recent moving or driving violations and ability to remain insurable at the standard insurance market rate.
Ability to lift 75+ lbs.
Ability to operate and drive a forklift.

Responsibilities

Drive company trucks to make route deliveries to customers and meet delivery schedules.
Maneuver trucks into position to load and unload delivery trucks.
Comply with truck-driving rules and regulations.
Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance.
Report defects, accidents, and violations.
Complete paperwork required for company and DOT regulations.
Communicate with Fleet Management about maintenance issues and preventative maintenance of delivery trucks.
Operate and drive a forklift.
