About The Position

The Utah Department of Transportation's Engineering Rotational Program is a four-year program for non-licensed engineers with limited engineering experience. This program offers the opportunity to learn engineering principles in various areas of transportation engineering, including design, materials, hydraulics, planning, right-of-way, structures, traffic, and construction. Participants will learn to apply advanced mathematics and engineering knowledge to the planning, designing, development, and construction of transportation projects.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree, or higher, in a Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline.
• Proof of passing the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE).

Responsibilities

• Participate in a variety of activities throughout the engineering project lifecycle, including feasibility studies, materials research, design and concept development, scoping, environmental assessments, safety planning, specifications, scheduling, and revisions.
• Assist in the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of transportation facilities.
• Monitor and evaluate contract and contractor performance to ensure compliance with specifications; recommend corrective actions for deficiencies.
• Collect and review research materials, ensuring the accuracy, validity, and appropriateness of all data sources.
• Prepare engineering and design documents using computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment.
