About The Position

This is up to a four-year program for non-licensed engineers with limited engineering experience. You will learn engineering principles in a variety of areas including design, materials, hydraulics, planning, right-of-way, structures, traffic, construction, etc. You will then learn how to apply the knowledge and techniques of advanced mathematics and engineering to the planning, designing, development, and construction of transportation projects.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree, or higher, in a Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • Proof of passing the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE).
  • At least two years of post-graduate engineering experience (for Engineer II level).

  • Less than 2 years engineering experience
  • A recent graduation date

Responsibilities

  • Participate in a variety of activities throughout the engineering project lifecycle, including feasibility studies, materials research, design and concept development, scoping, environmental assessments, safety planning, specifications, scheduling, and revisions.
  • Assist in the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of transportation facilities.
  • Monitor and evaluate contract and contractor performance to ensure compliance with specifications; recommend corrective actions for deficiencies.
  • Collect and review research materials, ensuring the accuracy, validity, and appropriateness of all data sources.
  • Prepare engineering and design documents using computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment.
