About The Position

The ROOTS Hub Initiatives Manager, reporting to the ROOTS Hub Director, provides operational leadership, coordination, and oversight for assigned Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP) initiatives. This role supervises Initiative Leads, ensuring alignment of implementation activities, consistency in project management, and achievement of Hub goals. The position acts as the primary operational liaison between the ROOTS Hub and its partners, including the Region 3 Academic Anchor, Regional Anchors, implementation partners, and other stakeholders. Responsibilities include coordinating cross-initiative planning, monitoring progress, facilitating communication, identifying operational risks, and supporting the execution of the Region 3 Hub Action Plan. This role translates strategic priorities into coordinated implementation activities, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, healthcare administration, social work, business administration, public administration, or related field required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience leading complex healthcare, public health, or population health initiatives.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of project or program management experience involving multiple organizations or stakeholder groups.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Experience coordinating regional partnerships and collaborative initiatives.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Advanced project and program management experience.
  • Knowledge of healthcare delivery systems, behavioral health, public health, and social determinants of health.
  • Understanding of rural healthcare transformation strategies.
  • Experience coordinating large, multi-organizational initiatives.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Strong facilitation and meeting management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze performance data and translate findings into operational improvements.
  • Knowledge of grant-funded initiatives and public-sector accountability.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision, coaching, and performance management for Initiative Leads.
  • Coordinate implementation across Initiatives 1, 2, and 5 to ensure alignment with the Region 3 Hub Action Plan.
  • Monitor initiative work plans, milestones, deliverables, and implementation schedules.
  • Identify interdependencies across initiatives and proactively address operational barriers.
  • Ensure consistency in implementation approaches, documentation, and project management practices.
  • Serve as the primary operational liaison to the Region 3 Academic Anchor and Regional Anchors.
  • Coordinate regular implementation meetings with anchor organizations and implementation partners.
  • Foster collaborative relationships among healthcare providers, community organizations, local health departments, academic institutions, and state partners.
  • Facilitate communication between initiative teams and external partners to ensure alignment of priorities and activities.
  • Support development of collaborative strategies that advance regional transformation goals.
  • Monitor initiative performance metrics and implementation progress across all assigned initiatives.
  • Review status reports, dashboards, and performance data to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Support preparation of reports, presentations, and implementation updates for NCDHHS, Hub leadership, and governance bodies.
  • Ensure timely completion of deliverables and compliance with RHTP requirements.
  • Coordinate corrective action planning when implementation challenges arise.
  • Support Hub governance activities, including Regional Decision Council meetings, implementation workgroups, and advisory committees.
  • Coordinate cross-functional planning sessions and implementation reviews.
  • Promote continuous quality improvement and knowledge sharing across initiative teams.
  • Support development and refinement of operational processes and implementation tools.
  • Provides direct supervision to assigned Initiative Leads, including Initiative 1 Co-Leads, Initiative 2 Lead, and Initiative 5 Lead.
  • Provides leadership through coaching, performance management, workload prioritization, professional development, and operational oversight.
