About The Position

The Rooms Operations Assistant supports the hotel’s housekeeping operation, room-readiness process, cleanliness standards, and supply coordination. This hands-on position participates directly in preparing and maintaining guest rooms while gaining practical exposure to how housekeeping leaders organize labor, inspect quality, manage inventory, communicate with other departments, and protect the hotel’s primary revenue-producing asset. This position is well suited for a college student, recent graduate, or early-career candidate interested in hospitality management, business operations, supervision, logistics, property management, or workforce leadership. Ultimately, you will help ensure that guest rooms and public areas are clean, properly supplied, and ready for arrival. Warm, knowledgeable service and attention to detail reassure guests that they have made the right choice to stay with us. This is a regular, part-time hourly hotel position and is not part of a formal internship or management-development program.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, secondary qualification, or equivalent required.
  • Interest in hospitality, business operations, management, logistics, supervision, property management, or workforce leadership.
  • Willingness to learn hotel operations by participating in hands-on guest-room and public-area work.
  • Strong attendance, dependability, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to organize work and respond appropriately to changing priorities.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, cleaning procedures, safety requirements, and brand standards.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision while meeting established productivity and quality standards.
  • Professional communication skills when interacting with guests, employees, vendors, and hotel leadership.
  • Ability to protect guest privacy, confidential hotel information, keys, and hotel property.
  • Ability to recognize and report maintenance, cleanliness, inventory, and safety concerns promptly.
  • Must meet all company and legal requirements for assigned duties.
  • Push and pull housekeeping carts, vacuums, linen bins, and other operating equipment.
  • Carry linens, towels, supplies, amenities, cleaning products, and guest-requested items throughout the hotel.
  • Bend, kneel, crouch, reach, stoop, and twist while cleaning, making beds, removing linens, and stocking supplies.
  • Lift mattresses and bedding as necessary when making or inspecting beds.
  • Reach shelves, windows, ledges, bathroom fixtures, furniture, and areas under or around beds and furnishings.
  • Stand and walk continuously for extended periods while completing assigned responsibilities.
  • Move throughout guestrooms, hallways, stairwells, elevators, linen rooms, storage areas, and public spaces.
  • Climb stairs and use step stools when trained and authorized.
  • Work with approved cleaning chemicals and use required personal protective equipment.
  • Lift or move items within company-established limits.
  • Reading and writing abilities are used when completing checklists, room-status records, inventory documents, logs, guest requests, and information updates.
  • Basic math skills are used when counting linens, amenities, supplies, and inventory.
  • Problem-solving, reasoning, organization, and prioritization skills are used frequently.
  • Attention to cleanliness, presentation, productivity, and guest privacy is essential.

Nice To Haves

  • Current college student, recent graduate, or early-career applicant preferred.
  • Previous housekeeping, hotel, cleaning, inventory, or hospitality experience is helpful but not required.
  • Experience with Hilton, Marriott, IHG, Wyndham, Hyatt, or similar hotel processes and standards is helpful.
  • Being passionate about people and service.

Responsibilities

  • Greets guests and responds professionally to questions and special requests.
  • Responds appropriately to guest concerns, complaints, or suggestions and refers matters to management when necessary.
  • Assists room attendants with room stripping, linen removal, bed making, supply delivery, and other room-turnover responsibilities.
  • Serves as a runner for linens, towels, amenities, cleaning supplies, and guest-requested items.
  • Assists with cleaning guestrooms, hallways, stairwells, public areas, housekeeping workspaces, and other assigned areas.
  • Helps prepare housekeeping carts, linen closets, storage areas, and daily operating supplies.
  • Supports room-readiness and quality-assurance inspections after completing appropriate training.
  • Reports maintenance concerns, damaged furnishings, missing inventory, safety hazards, and cleanliness issues promptly.
  • Helps track linens, towels, amenities, guest supplies, cleaning products, and housekeeping inventory.
  • Assists with linen counts, supply organization, inventory rotation, and restocking.
  • Supports scheduled deep-cleaning, preventive room-care, and guest-room asset-preservation projects.
  • Communicates room status, guest requests, maintenance concerns, and operational priorities to housekeeping and front-desk personnel.
  • Helps maintain the cleanliness and organization of housekeeping closets, storage rooms, linen areas, and employee workspaces.
  • Properly uses and maintains assigned cleaning equipment, supplies, chemicals, and protective equipment according to departmental specifications.
  • Maintains guest privacy and hotel security by properly announcing entry and following guest-room access procedures.
  • Follows all key-control, lost-and-found, chemical-handling, safety, privacy, and security procedures.
  • Properly handles lost-and-found items according to hotel policies and security requirements.
  • Maintains accurate logs, checklists, room-status records, inventory documents, and other required paperwork.
  • Keeps the immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of significant operational concerns, safety issues, guest complaints, or room-readiness problems.
  • Performs other appropriate hotel operations duties as assigned by management.
