About The Position

The Room Inspector is responsible for achieving the highest quality of cleanliness for the hotel by directing and coordinating the housekeeping operations in accordance with the standards of Sunridge Hotel Group and the hotel. This role involves supervising laundry and housekeeping staff, coordinating room availability through inspections, monitoring customer feedback, and ensuring a safe and efficient working environment. The inspector also manages inventory, purchasing, and cost control for supplies and equipment, and ensures the department operates within its budget.

Requirements

  • Must achieve required threshold scores according to brand and Sunridge inspections.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Attends work on time as scheduled.
  • Follows hotel grooming and dress standards.
  • Minimizes safety hazards by following all safety rules and procedures.
  • Keeps immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance.
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established company policies and procedures to achieve the overall objectives of this position.
  • Maintains a favorable working relationship with all other company employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate.
  • At all times projects a favorable image of Sunridge Hotel Group and the hotel to the public.
  • Performs such other ancillary and related duties as may be assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising the Laundry and Housekeeping operations to ensure a clean and well-maintained hotel.
  • Scheduling employees based on forecasted occupancy and adjusting staffing for sudden changes.
  • Coordinating room availability by performing inspections.
  • Supervising the daily activities of the housekeeping staff.
  • Monitoring customer comment cards, identifying problem areas, and formulating solutions.
  • Conducting continual inspections to determine the hotel's overall cleanliness and performing follow-up.
  • Promoting safety within the department.
  • Overseeing inventory, purchasing, disbursement, and cost control for linens, cleaning supplies, customer room supplies, restroom supplies, laundry supplies, machines, and equipment.
  • Scheduling and supervising all rotational and special cleaning programs.
  • Securing keys in accordance with the hotel's key management policy.
  • Supervising the 'Lost and Found' department.
  • Achieving required threshold scores according to brand and Sunridge inspections.
  • Meeting and exceeding customer and team member expectations by providing service and teamwork.
  • Conducting regular training, including skills training for value-added service and one-on-one training.
  • Monitoring service and teamwork, and counseling employees as needed.
  • Performing other duties as required to provide service and teamwork.
  • Maintaining safe working conditions within the department and hotel.
  • Ensuring all employees follow safety rules and procedures.
  • Taking corrective action to improve safety where required.
  • Assuring the Housekeeping Department operates within the approved budget.
  • Monitoring department performance against the approved budget and making recommendations.
  • Controlling operating and payroll costs of staff.
  • Contributing to the hotel's competitive status and profitability by monitoring industry trends and recommending actions.
  • Developing and implementing techniques to improve operations.
  • Preparing reports as requested for improved management decision-making.
  • Utilizing leadership skills and motivation techniques to maximize employee productivity and satisfaction.
  • Selecting, orienting, and training qualified employees.
  • Conducting effective employee meetings.
  • Communicating and monitoring achievement of performance standards.
  • Employing respectful discipline as required under the supervision of the general manager.
  • Adhering to hotel policies and procedures.
  • Attending work on time as scheduled.
