The Roofing Construction Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient, and profitable execution of all roofing projects. This role oversees field operations, workforce management, quality control, safety compliance, customer satisfaction, and project performance from planning through completion. The Roofing Construction Manager serves as the company's roofing subject matter expert and provides leadership, training, and technical guidance to both field and sales teams.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; technical trade training, construction management coursework, or equivalent roofing field experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of roofing construction experience required, including hands-on field knowledge of roofing systems, waterproofing, flashing, repairs, reroofs, and production coordination.
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory, lead, foreman, superintendent, or construction management experience preferred.
  • Experience managing residential roofing projects strongly preferred; experience coordinating with solar installation teams is a plus.
  • Knowledge of roofing contracting, permitting, inspections, manufacturer specifications, and applicable code requirements preferred.
  • Valid driver license and ability to travel to jobsites, customer locations, supplier locations, and company offices as needed.
  • RME holder, roofing license, or ability to support license-related requirements preferred, if applicable to business needs.
  • Strong knowledge of roofing methods, materials, roof types, flashing details, waterproofing standards, tear-off processes, installation sequencing, jobsite safety, and common roof failure points.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply plans, blueprints, job specifications, scopes of work, roof reports, measurements, photos, inspection notes, and manufacturer installation instructions.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining attention to detail, schedule commitments, quality standards, and customer communication.
  • Ability to identify jobsite risks, quality concerns, material shortages, schedule conflicts, safety issues, and scope gaps before they impact project completion.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with customers, vendors, inspectors, subcontractors, field teams, project managers, sales teams, and leadership.
  • Ability to train, coach, and hold field personnel accountable to productivity, workmanship, documentation, safety, and company standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to provide practical solutions in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Proficiency with roofing measurements, material takeoffs, work scope review, production planning, project documentation, and jobsite photo documentation.
  • Working knowledge of common roofing materials and applications, including underlayment, flashing, vents, penetrations, shingles, tile, flat roofing components, sealants, fasteners, and waterproofing products.
  • Ability to use mobile devices, job management systems, email, digital photos, document storage, scheduling tools, and other construction-related technology.
  • Ability to review pricing guides, estimates, change orders, purchase requests, and material lists to support accurate project planning and communication.
  • Knowledge of ladder safety, roof access, fall protection, PPE, OSHA safety requirements, and safe work practices for roofing construction environments.
  • Demonstrates leadership, accountability, professionalism, urgency, sound judgment, and follow-through.
  • Build trust with employees, customers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal partners through clear communication and reliable execution.
  • Remains calm and solution-oriented when addressing customer concerns, jobsite issues, schedule changes, and competing priorities.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for on-time, on-budget, and high-quality project delivery.
  • Lead roofing projects from pre-construction through final completion.
  • Manage project schedules, labor resources, subcontractors, materials, equipment, inspections, and permits.
  • Identify and resolve project risks, field issues, scope changes, and schedule conflicts.
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards and customer expectations.
  • Responsible for workforce performance, productivity, and accountability.
  • Direct and develop foremen, crews, and subcontractors.
  • Establish performance expectations and hold field teams accountable for productivity, quality, and professionalism.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance management.
  • Conduct regular field visits to verify workmanship, safety, and project progress.
  • Responsible for installation quality and workmanship standards.
  • Ensure work complies with contract requirements, building codes, manufacturer specifications, and company standards.
  • Conduct field audits and inspections throughout project execution.
  • Investigate and resolve workmanship concerns, warranty claims, leaks, and customer issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement in quality and operational execution.
  • Responsible for safe work practices and regulatory compliance.
  • Enforce company safety policies and Cal/OSHA requirements.
  • Promote a safety-first culture and immediately address unsafe conditions.
  • Ensure proper safety training, incident reporting, and compliance documentation.
  • Partner with the Safety Department to improve safety performance and reduce risk.
  • Responsible for customer satisfaction and effective communication.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for field-related customer concerns.
  • Maintain clear communication with customers, inspectors, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Ensure timely resolution of customer issues and successful project closeout.
  • Support final inspections, walkthroughs, and customer acceptance.
  • Responsible for roofing knowledge and technical competency across the sales organization.
  • Serve as the roofing subject matter expert for Sales and Operations teams.
  • Develop and deliver ongoing training on roofing products, installation methods, warranties, code updates, and industry best practices.
  • Keep sales personnel informed of new products, manufacturer updates, market trends, and competitive offerings.
  • Partner with Sales leadership to improve proposal accuracy, customer presentations, and roofing sales effectiveness.
  • Support complex customer consultations and sales opportunities requiring technical expertise.
  • Identify knowledge gaps and implement training programs to improve sales performance and customer experience.
  • Responsible for roofing expertise and continuous improvement.
  • Provide technical guidance on roofing systems, waterproofing, flashing, repairs, reroofs, and code compliance.
  • Support estimating, scope development, production planning, and change-order evaluations.
  • Assist with resolution of complex field conditions and installation challenges.
  • Recommend process, material, and workflow improvements that enhance productivity, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Directly supervises roofing foremen, field crews, installers, laborers, and subcontractors.
  • Responsible for assigning work, monitoring performance, coaching employees, enforcing company standards, and supporting hiring and employee development.
