Requirements

  • High School or G.E.D preferred.
  • General construction or outdoor work experience
  • Driver's License: Required
  • Must be able to pass a background check and get high security clearance
  • Willing to submit to a 10-panel drug test
  • Must be self-motivated and open-minded
  • Knowledge of the basic safety techniques and procedures
  • Attention to detail, ability to prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines according to instructions received
  • Ability to organize, plan, and execute work assignments
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to work on a team
  • Ability to read and use tape measure, mark, or record distances
  • General basic knowledge of construction materials and tools involved in the construction or repair of structures
  • Ability to identify problems and communicate them to his foreman in order to accomplish work
  • Ability to identify and resolves problems in a timely manner according to instructions received

Responsibilities

  • Assist Roofers and Foremen with preparing the job site and covering roofs with materials such as metal, shingles, single-ply systems (TPO, PVC, and EPDM), slate, asphalt, aluminum, wood, and related materials.
  • Operate hand and power tools of all types.
  • Clean up debris from the roof surface and surrounding property.
  • Assist with the installation of vapor barriers and/or layers of insulation on the roof decks.
  • Cover exposed nail heads with roofing cement or caulking to prevent water leakage and rust.
  • Assist with the installation of partially overlapping layers of material over roof insulation surfaces.
  • Cover roofs and exterior walls of structures with metal, single-ply systems, slate, asphalt, aluminum, wood, gravel, gypsum, and/or related materials, using brushes, knives, punches, hammers, and other tools.
  • Operate vehicles, mechanized devices, or equipment.
  • Repair cracks, defects, or damage, using proper materials.
  • Apply adhesives, caulking, sealants, or coatings.
