About The Position

Brooklyn SolarWorks is seeking hands-on, safety-focused Roof Installers for rooftop solar installation crews. Installers work on teams of 3–5 and travel to job sites throughout the NYC boroughs. They load materials onto rooftops, use plan sets to build support structures, and follow electrical diagrams to wire solar arrays. The role involves working closely with the crew lead and teammates to complete safe, code-compliant solar installations from start to finish. This is a full-time, field-based position, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM–6:00 PM; hours may vary based on business needs. Travel is approximately 90%. The position is non-exempt and reports to the Roof Installation Manager.

Requirements

• Valid New York State driver's license with a clean driving record, including a required three-year clean driving history.
• 40-hour SST certification.
• Two years of construction experience.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds, stand, walk, and climb stairs and ladders.
• Comfort working at heights and on ladders.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Excellent time management.
• Ability to travel and work irregular hours.

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with OSHA safety rules and company protocols.
• Drive to assigned job locations for each day's appointments as directed by the Crew Lead or Manager.
• Move materials around job sites, including hoisting materials to the roof.
• Assemble and install solar PV panel support structures according to building codes, manufacturer specifications, and standards.
• Waterproof roof penetrations.
• Wire solar arrays to BSW specifications according to the 3-line diagram.
• Clean up job sites and safely lower materials from the roof after job completion.
• Communicate with the crew lead and the rest of the team about the day's activities.
• Remain on site until the crew lead or manager clears the team to leave.
• Carry out additional duties as required by the Crew Lead or Manager.
