About The Position

Plan and instruct rock climbing classes, providing participants with relevant information and efficient service. Instruct classes in accordance with the Association’s guidelines to maintain program quality. Demonstrate the Y of Central Maryland core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in all aspects of job performance.

Requirements

• Knowledge of safety rules for the program area.
• Complete the Y of Central Maryland Belay training within 30 days of hire.
• Obtain First Aid and CPR certification within 90 days of employment.
• Demonstrate good communication skills and an engaging personality.

Nice To Haves

• A minimum of one year of rock climbing or belay experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and instruct rock climbing classes within Association guidelines.
• Provide participants with pertinent information and efficient service.
• Lead classes independently.
• Respond to safety and emergency situations.
• Motivate and educate members.
• Set up, move, and store class equipment.
• Communicate effectively and engage with participants.
• Develop effective interpersonal relationships with children, parents, and other adults.
