About The Position

Sandvik Mining is seeking a Rock Drill / Components Exchange Driver to support their Rock Drill/Components exchange and rebuild recovery program. This role involves the safe and reliable pickup and delivery of rock drills, components, related parts, tooling, and documentation between customer sites, the Elko branch, and other approved locations. The primary goal is to enhance customer responsiveness, reduce logistics barriers, support equipment uptime, strengthen customer engagement, and help Sandvik recover and grow market share in the Rock Drill/Components rebuild sector through a visible and dependable service presence. The position is based out of the Elko branch and serves customer mine sites, warehouses, workshops, and approved delivery locations within the Elko region and surrounding service territory. Responsibilities include regular driving, customer site visits, coordinating loading and unloading, using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), exposure to mine-site and industrial environments, and occasional schedule flexibility for urgent customer needs. The employee must be capable of operating an assigned vehicle safely, securing loads, adhering to customer site requirements, lifting and moving materials within safe limits, and collaborating effectively with various Sandvik teams including Rock Drills, Parts & Services, Warehouse, Workshop, and Field Service.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional driving, delivery, logistics, warehouse, field service, mining, industrial, or customer-facing experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain customer site access, MSHA/site-specific training, DOT/medical certification if required by assigned vehicle or route, and any company-required EHS training.

  • Ability to negotiate routine logistics details with customers while maintaining professionalism and knowing when to escalate commercial or technical issues.
  • Knowledge of mining site expectations, customer access requirements, load securement, safe driving practices, and material handling preferred.
  • Experience with rock drills, components, parts delivery, Maximo, CRM, service coordination, or workshop documentation is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Safely transport rock drills, components, exchange units, parts, tools, and related materials between customer locations, Sandvik facilities, and approved delivery points while complying with company, customer, DOT, site, and EHS requirements.
  • Serve as a professional customer-facing representative for the Rock Drill/Component exchange program by building trust with site contacts, maintaining strong communication, and reinforcing Sandvik’s commitment to responsiveness, uptime, and service execution.
  • Coordinate pickups and deliveries with customers, PSSRs, warehouse, service coordination, field service, and workshop personnel to ensure units are routed efficiently and customer commitments are met.
  • Collect, review, and transfer required documentation, including rock drill return/start-up forms, serial numbers, hours, site information, photos, shipping paperwork, and customer contact details to support accurate reporting, quoting, repair tracking, and invoicing.
  • Use strong social, listening, and negotiation skills to resolve routine site-level logistics concerns, secure required information or release approvals, and escalate commercial, technical, or customer concerns to the appropriate Sandvik representative.
  • Support critical and ad hoc parts deliveries in the Elko region when Rock Drill/Components exchange activity does not require full-time utilization, helping improve customer responsiveness while allowing PSSRs to remain focused on sales and opportunity development.
  • Maintain assigned vehicle, tools, load securement equipment, PPE, and delivery records in good working order; complete inspections, mileage logs, and required maintenance notifications timely and accurately.
  • Follow branch and customer site procedures for check-in, hazard awareness, load handling, mine-site access, chain of custody, and incident reporting.
