About The Position

Bach to Rock is seeking a part-time Rock Band Coach to provide music and performance lessons to students. Teachers use the B2R curriculum to deliver an inspiring, well-balanced music education to students of all ages, teaching theory and technique through music students know and love. The role helps students develop as musicians who enjoy performing, recording in the studio, and composing original music.

This position offers a flexible part-time schedule in a fun environment with other musicians. The school handles marketing, scheduling, booking, billing, and other business aspects so the coach can focus on teaching. The stated hourly rate is $20–$22, based on education, experience, expertise, and availability. The listed responsibilities are not exhaustive, and the employer may modify the job description.

Requirements

• Demonstrate an understanding of music concepts and communicate those concepts effectively to students.
• Have an advanced understanding of music theory and technique relevant to the primary instrument.
• Have effective time-management and organizational skills to keep students on task during lessons.
• Be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a variety of personalities.
• Have performance experience, either solo or in a group.
• Have experience working with youth and/or beginning musicians.
• Be able to interact effectively with children ages 3–17 and adults.
• Be able to pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Teach private, semi-private, and group lessons using Bach to Rock curriculum and cover song arrangements.
• Create an encouraging, fun, and focused lesson atmosphere.
• Assess a student’s readiness to join a band or ensemble.
• Assist at school events.
• Repair equipment as needed and when able.
