About The Position

TES Staffing is looking for energetic, dependable people to lead hands-on STEAM classes and activities for kids throughout the Rochester area. You'll guide children through fun, creative projects that introduce engineering, building, problem-solving, and robotics. The curriculum, materials, and training are provided; you bring the personality, reliability, and ability to run the room. This is a part-time, year-round position offering 15-25 hours per week, with flexible scheduling that can include weekdays, evenings, weekends, school breaks, camps, parties, and special programs. The role involves traveling to various program locations around the Rochester area to lead groups of children through pre-planned STEAM activities.

Requirements

Must have a car.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Must have your own reliable vehicle.
Comfortable lifting up to 35 lbs.
Willing to obtain CPR/First Aid certification.
Available for a combination of weekday, weekend, holiday, or school-break programming.
Energetic, positive, and comfortable leading a room.
Genuinely good with children.
Reliable and punctual.
Comfortable adapting when plans change.
Able to communicate clearly with kids and adults.

Nice To Haves

Experience in restaurants, hospitality, events, theater, recreation, customer service, or the gig economy.
Ability to walk into a room and take charge.
Ability to keep a group engaged.
Ability to think on your feet when something doesn't go according to plan.
Ability to stay upbeat when multiple things are happening at once.

Responsibilities

Lead hands-on STEAM classes and activities for kids.
Guide children through fun, creative projects introducing engineering, building, problem-solving, and robotics.
Get kids excited and engaged.
Explain projects and activities in an approachable way.
Keep the group focused and the classroom moving.
Manage different personalities, energy levels, questions, interruptions, and other classroom dynamics.
Help kids work through frustration and celebrate their successes.
Set up and clean up program materials.
Create a welcoming, inclusive, and FUN environment.
Travel to program locations around the Rochester area.
