About The Position

The Robotic Programming Engineer is responsible for the development, implementation, and execution of all robot/cobot programming offline, while also supporting robot specialists in the implementation of these programs on the production floor. This role involves developing processes and work instructions, setting up robot and cobot cells in offline programming software, and collaborating with robotic specialists to fine-tune programs. The engineer will ensure all necessary part and fixture models are available for programming, assess the best software for offline programming needs, and create/maintain a programming schedule. Additionally, the role includes implementing cost reduction programs, researching manufacturing methods using robotics, collaborating with fixture design to optimize programming and cycle times, and reviewing/improving cycle times for current and new parts. The engineer will also identify parts not meeting standard run rates, develop action plans to improve their cycle times, and utilize various software including database, internet, inventory, manufacturing, order processing, spreadsheet, and word processing software.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3 to 5 years related robot/welding experience and/or training.
  • Ability to continuously practice safe habits in the workplace while following all policies and procedures related to health and safety.
  • Knowledge of Database software; Internet software, Inventory software, Manufacturing software, Order processing systems; Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the launch and implementation of software for offline programming of robot and cobot cells at the MI-North plant.
  • Develop processes and work instructions for the programming and cell build operations.
  • Set up all robot and cobot cells in the offline programming software system.
  • Work collaboratively with robotic specialists to “touch up” programming at the cell to dial in program to physical assembly.
  • Ensure all models of parts and fixtures needed for programming are received and available for programming.
  • Consistently assess the best software for Morton Industries offline programming needs.
  • Create and maintain programming schedule to track upcoming and current programming demand within collaboratively with the NPI process and leaders.
  • Implement cost reduction programs mandated by customers and or management.
  • Research and analyze methods required to manufacture product to the customers' requirements and specifications using robotics.
  • Collaborate with fixture design to improve programming and robot cycle times.
  • Create programs for new fixtures designed to be run on a robot or cobot cell.
  • Review and improve cycle times of current and new parts assigned to robot and cobot cells.
  • Identify parts not meeting standard run rates, develop action plan, and execute the action plan to improve the cycle time of the robot operation.
