Robotic Weld Cell Engineer

FluidstackAustin, TX
$203,000 - $232,000

About The Position

Fluidstack is seeking a Robotic Weld Cell Engineer to own the robotic weld cells, including programming, fixturing interface, and ensuring weld quality at production rates. The role involves developing weld programs for structural steel assemblies, focusing on procedures, parameters, and sequencing to manage distortion. The engineer will commission new cells with integrators, taking them from acceptance to full production rate, and will drive first-pass yield improvements by analyzing data and making parameter-level adjustments to reduce rework. Fluidstack is a company focused on making humanity more free by delivering large-scale compute infrastructure for AI. They operate with a philosophy of extreme ownership, velocity, first principles thinking, and a deep engagement with the problem space, often involving long hours at high intensity.

Requirements

  • Programmed and run robotic welding in production, not just in a lab.
  • Deep knowledge of GMAW: parameters, transfer modes, and understanding arc feedback.
  • Experience solving distortion and penetration problems on heavy weldments.
  • Work to WPS discipline and ability to write a WPS.
  • Partner with quality on inspections and the fixes they drive.

Nice To Haves

  • AWS D1.1 familiarity.
  • Fanuc, ABB, or Yaskawa arc packages.
  • Offline programming.
  • Fixture design input.

Responsibilities

  • Own the robotic weld cells: programming, fixturing interface, and weld quality at production rate.
  • Develop weld programs for structural steel assemblies: procedures, parameters, and sequencing that hold distortion.
  • Commission new cells with integrators and take them from acceptance to rate.
  • Drive first-pass yield up with data: rework cut at the parameter level.

Benefits

  • Pay equity and transparency.
