About The Position

The Roadway ITS Field Maintenance Technician supports Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) roadway projects through the installation, programming, integration, and maintenance of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) components across traffic infrastructure environments. This is a field-based role with hands-on technical responsibilities and in-person work. The position is union-supported and offers full benefits. Competitive wages are offered, with a sign-on bonus available based on experience. CDL sponsorship is available.

Requirements

Valid driver’s license.
Willingness to work outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions.
Ability to inspect and safely operate aerial equipment.
Strong troubleshooting and technical skills.

Experience with ITS or traffic signal systems.

Responsibilities

Install, configure, and maintain IP cameras and digital video systems.
Install, configure, and maintain Dynamic Message Signs (DMS).
Install, configure, and maintain vehicle detection and Wrong Way Vehicle Detection (WWVD) systems.
Install, configure, and maintain edge-computing technology.
Install, configure, and maintain emergency vehicle preemption and transit signal priority systems.
Install, configure, and maintain adaptive traffic signal control systems.
Install, configure, and maintain ramp metering systems and communications networks.
Install, configure, and maintain ground-mount and pole-mount cabinets and UPS devices.
Perform underground cable locating and inventory ITS components.
Troubleshoot wiring, hardware, and software issues.
Adjust, repair, replace, and modify electrical components.
Inspect and operate aerial equipment, including bucket trucks and manlifts, safely.
Use Microsoft Office Suite and manufacturer-specific software for diagnostics and reporting.
