Parsons is now hiring for a Roadway Engineer II to join their Kansas City team, supporting major regional road and highway projects. The ideal candidate will report remotely, based in the Kansas City area. This position is part of Parsons' Critical Infrastructure team, which for over 80 years has designed and delivered critical infrastructure globally. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related field)
  • 5 years or more of progressive roadway or highway engineering experience; DOT or municipal transportation project experience needed
  • Professional Engineer PE Registration required
  • Proficiency in utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation Geopak and/or OpenRoads is required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively coordinate and participate as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of applicable roadway design standards and guidelines, state DOT design manuals is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate frequently with senior engineers and project managers; perform a wide range of roadway engineering and design assignments requiring the independent application of standard and advanced engineering techniques, procedures, and design criteria for projects of varying size and complexity
  • Utilize drafting and modeling software, tools, and programs to develop and refine conceptual, preliminary, and detailed roadway designs
  • Perform and review design calculations, including material quantity takeoffs and construction cost estimates, and support value engineering efforts
  • Assist in and increasingly lead the production and modification of design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans, and specifications for assigned projects
  • Support coordination with other disciplines (structures, drainage, traffic, utilities, etc.) to ensure integrated and constructible roadway designs
  • Assist in the preparation of detailed requisitions for material purchases, services, and subcontracts, and support bid document development
  • Provide limited guidance to junior engineers and designers on assigned tasks, helping to ensure quality and adherence to standards
  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate
