About The Position

As a Roadway Design Engineer, you will apply engineering principles, technical expertise, and sound judgment to plan, design, and deliver transportation infrastructure projects under the mentorship of senior engineers and project managers. You will support roadway, highway, complete streets, and multimodal transportation designs from concept through final design, including geometric layouts, roadway alignments, grading, drainage coordination, maintenance of traffic plans, and construction documentation. You will perform engineering analyses, prepare technical reports and design calculations, develop plans and specifications, and help ensure deliverables meet applicable federal, state, and local standards, including agency requirements such as TxDOT guidelines. With increasing experience, you will take greater ownership of design tasks, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, participate in client and stakeholder interactions, support project schedules and budgets, and contribute to quality control. The role offers opportunities to strengthen technical capabilities and professional judgment and progress toward becoming a technical resource and project leader in the transportation practice. This hybrid position operates between office and field environments. It routinely involves standard office equipment and may occasionally involve exposure to inclement weather, heat, humidity, noise, hazards, atmospheric conditions, or bodies of water, depending on project requirements. The role may occasionally require operating a company vehicle and lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 35 pounds. Employment is subject to applicable pre-employment substance screening and background checks.
