Roadway Construction Inspector
About The Position
Atlas Technical Consultants is seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Roadway Construction Inspector to join our Gwinnett Program Management team. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring roadway construction projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project plans, specifications, and quality standards. Requirements
- An Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related field with 0-2 years of roadway construction experience; or a high school diploma/GED with 5+ years of experience as a roadway construction inspector.
- Strong mathematical skills, including the ability to perform geometric, trigonometric, and algebraic calculations related to roadway and transportation construction projects.
- The ability to read, interpret, and apply construction plans, specifications, contract documents, construction details, inspection procedures, testing requirements, and other project-related documentation.
- Knowledge of roadway construction materials, methods, equipment, and acceptable construction practices.
- A working knowledge of GDOT specifications, standards, and procedures related to roadway construction projects.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify construction deficiencies and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records and collaborate effectively with project stakeholders.
Nice To Haves
- Preferred certifications such as GSWCC Level 1A, GDOT WECS, GDOT Field Concrete Technician, or ACI Concrete Field Technician Certification.
Responsibilities
- Conduct independent inspections of roadway construction activities to ensure compliance with project plans, contract requirements, and specifications.
- Measure, document, and quantify contractor-performed work for payment verification and project tracking.
- Maintain accurate and detailed project records, including daily reports, inspection logs, and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate and monitor project material testing to verify quality and compliance with established standards.
- Inspect and evaluate concrete and asphalt placement operations to ensure proper construction practices and material performance.
- Inspect erosion and sediment control measures to ensure compliance with contract requirements and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Communicate observations, deficiencies, and project updates with contractors, project managers, and other stakeholders as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned in support of project and program goals.
