About The Position

Atlas Technical Consultants is seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Roadway Construction Inspector to join our Gwinnett Program Management team. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring roadway construction projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project plans, specifications, and quality standards. The ideal candidate is passionate about infrastructure improvement, thrives in a field-focused environment, and enjoys collaborating with contractors, engineers, and project stakeholders to deliver successful transportation projects that positively impact the community.

Requirements

  • An Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related field with 0-2 years of roadway construction experience; or a high school diploma/GED with 5+ years of experience as a roadway construction inspector.
  • Strong mathematical skills, including the ability to perform geometric, trigonometric, and algebraic calculations related to roadway and transportation construction projects.
  • The ability to read, interpret, and apply construction plans, specifications, contract documents, construction details, inspection procedures, testing requirements, and other project-related documentation.
  • Knowledge of roadway construction materials, methods, equipment, and acceptable construction practices.
  • A working knowledge of GDOT specifications, standards, and procedures related to roadway construction projects.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify construction deficiencies and ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records and collaborate effectively with project stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred certifications such as GSWCC Level 1A, GDOT WECS, GDOT Field Concrete Technician, or ACI Concrete Field Technician Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent inspections of roadway construction activities to ensure compliance with project plans, contract requirements, and specifications.
  • Measure, document, and quantify contractor-performed work for payment verification and project tracking.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed project records, including daily reports, inspection logs, and supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate and monitor project material testing to verify quality and compliance with established standards.
  • Inspect and evaluate concrete and asphalt placement operations to ensure proper construction practices and material performance.
  • Inspect erosion and sediment control measures to ensure compliance with contract requirements and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Communicate observations, deficiencies, and project updates with contractors, project managers, and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned in support of project and program goals.
