Roadside Service Technician, Tow
About The Position
As a Roadside Tow Technician for AAA Oregon/Idaho, you will operate a AAA-owned flat-bed or wheel-lift service truck throughout the Portland metro area and respond to roadside assistance requests from AAA members. You will provide professional, safe, and efficient help with roadside issues, including tire changes, fuel delivery, battery service, and minor mechanical repairs. The role requires sound judgment, a sense of urgency, technical skills, and a commitment to creating a safe environment for yourself, your teammates, and members. Tow technicians must obtain DOT medical card certification after starting employment. The position is based at the Portland Fleet Service Center in SE Portland, near I-205. Open shifts vary by availability and may include day, mid, swing, or graveyard shifts.
Requirements
- Valid driver's license and an excellent driving record.
- Successful completion of criminal background screening, DMV background screening, employment verification, and a pre-employment drug screen, including cannabis.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Must obtain DOT Medical card certification after starting employment.
- Ability to balance, bend, kneel, and lift up to 75 pounds.
- Self-motivated, with a sense of urgency and a desire to help others.
- Ability to problem solve and remain positive and calm under pressure.
Nice To Haves
- Two or more years of driving and customer service experience preferred; training is provided.
- Previous towing experience is a plus.
- Commercial driving, non-CDL experience affects starting wage.
Responsibilities
