About The Position

The position is anticipated to close on May 28, 2026, but applications will be accepted until position is filled and removed from the Delta County jobs website. Position is Casual/On-Call with no guarantee of continued employment. Position is generally for summer months only (generally May 15th through September 1st) and will be rotating 40 hours one week, 16 hours the following week with some flexibility. Position will be working in the North Fork area. Employee performs semi-skilled, labor and maintenance involving medium sized tractor and mowing operation maintaining Delta County roadsides from brush, weeds, rubbish and greenery.

Requirements

  • At least three (3) years’ experience operating tractors with implements or heavy equipment is required.
  • State of Colorado driver’s license is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous operation of road side equipment operation is desired.
  • Combination of education and experience may waive specific requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate medium sized (110 horsepower John Deer) cabbed tractor with an adjustable or fixed side or rear mounted brush bomb mower.
  • May operate similar or like equipment as proven skilled.
  • Complete inspection of equipment prior to start and at the end of the day looking for maintenance and safety concerns.
  • Professionally respond to questions and comments from the public.
  • Determining proper placement of traffic cones and warning signs if required.
  • Pick up excess debris and use tools and equipment as necessary.
  • Cleans and performs routine minor maintenance of equipment including, but not limited to fueling, washing, checking and adjusting air pressure, oil, and other fluids on vehicles, equipment, and tools used on the job.
  • Maintain and comply with safety standards and required maintenance protocol at all times.
  • Should the Board of County Commissioners or another authorized representative issue a local disaster declaration in Delta County, all Delta County employees may be called upon to serve as disaster service workers.
  • The primary location of employment for this position is the designated Delta County office with the exception of required duties that are to be performed off site as necessary. The employee is required to perform the majority (generally, at least 95%) of assigned duties from this designated office location to allow for client, customer and coworker access and collaboration, unless prior written approval for an alternative arrangement, such as temporary remote work, has been granted by the employee's direct supervisor and/or department head and maintained in the employee personnel file.
  • Reliable and predictable attendance and punctuality are considered essential functions of this job. Employees are expected to be at their work area and ready to work at the scheduled start time to ensure consistent service delivery and operational efficiency.
