Yakima County Government is seeking to fill multiple Road Maintenance Technician I/II (Truck Driver) openings within the Roads Division. These positions are responsible for skilled and semi-skilled maintenance through various activities, including operating single and tandem axle dump trucks, water trucks, and tractors with different trailer and hitch combinations. The role involves transporting, placing, removing, stockpiling, and distributing materials for road maintenance, as well as compacting roadways, snow removal, and sanding operations. Additionally, the positions require operating other construction-related equipment, power tools, and hand tools, performing manual labor, traffic control, and routine preventative maintenance on equipment. Road Maintenance Technician I is an entry-level position, while Road Maintenance Technician II is a journey-level position. While trucking operations are the primary focus, incumbents may be assigned other duties within the Road Maintenance Technician I & II classification when required. A driving exercise with a 10-yard standard transmission dump truck will be part of the interview process.
