About The Position

Monroe Tractor is seeking a skilled Diesel Technician with a strong background in heavy equipment to provide professional, safe, and efficient support for its branch. The role includes routine maintenance and complex diesel engine repairs, along with technical service for equipment and trucks. The technician follows safety requirements and published procedures, maintains accurate repair documentation, and works to achieve production objectives while providing courteous service to customers and dealership personnel. The target base pay range is $20–$40 USD, with pay scaled according to the candidate’s skills and background.

Requirements

Prior experience with heavy construction or agricultural equipment is preferred.
Strong independent work ethic and ability to collaborate with a team.
Excellent customer service skills and ability to build relationships.
Clear and concise communication skills.
Strong sense of urgency and focus on time.
Computer skills.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Ability to independently lift 50–75 pounds.

Responsibilities

Provide technical service to equipment.
Read job orders.
Observe and listen to equipment in operation to resolve malfunctions and perform work procedures effectively.
Follow checklists to ensure all critical parts are examined.
Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks, and adjust them as needed.
Test-drive vehicles to ensure they run smoothly.
Tag warranty parts and return them to the warranty clerk.
Attend training classes and monitor factory technical bulletins.
Develop and maintain positive customer relationships to increase customer satisfaction.
Properly complete repairs and service assigned by the supervisor.
Complete work according to applicable safety requirements and published procedures.
Participate in and make effective use of technical training assigned by management.
Maintain an organized and clean designated workspace.
Ensure guest vehicles are returned as clean as they were before service.
Show courtesy to guests, visitors, and dealership personnel.
Make every effort to achieve production objectives set by management.
Follow manufacturer policies and procedures for labor operations, time, repair-order documentation, and torque specifications when performing warranty repairs.
Perform other duties outlined by the Service Supervisor or management.
