About The Position

Georgia-Pacific is seeking a skilled and motivated Heavy Off-Road Diesel Mechanic to join the maintenance team at its Dudley facility. The role is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy mobile equipment used in an industrial environment, helping ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime. Work includes diesel-powered equipment, hydraulic systems, drivetrains, brakes, electrical systems, and other components. Expected pay starts at $26 an hour.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience repairing heavy off-road diesel equipment.
• Prior knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and powertrain components.
• Prior experience reading and interpreting technical manuals, schematics, and service documents.
• Experience using diagnostic equipment and troubleshooting tools.

Nice To Haves

• Technical degree or certification in Diesel Technology, Heavy Equipment Repair, or a related field.
• Experience with Caterpillar, Komatsu, John Deere, Volvo, Hyster, or similar equipment.
• Mobile equipment inspection and preventive maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and diesel engine systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance on heavy off-road equipment, including loaders, forklifts, skid steers, excavators, and other mobile equipment.
• Troubleshoot engine, transmission, brake, steering, and cooling systems.
• Conduct inspections and identify equipment deficiencies before failures occur.
• Repair and replace components such as pumps, cylinders, hoses, bearings, belts, filters, and drivetrain components.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and parts usage documentation.
• Operate diagnostic software and specialized tools to identify equipment issues.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns in a safe and timely manner.
• Adhere to company safety procedures and environmental regulations.
• Work with operations personnel to prioritize repairs and improve equipment performance.
