About The Position

The HVAC Start-Up Technician will be responsible for assisting with the installation, start-up, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of various commercial HVAC systems. This role requires strong technical skills, troubleshooting expertise, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a commercial construction environment.

Requirements

  • HVAC experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of refrigeration principles, system operations, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Experience with air balancing and static pressure diagnostics is a plus.
  • Familiarity with chilled water, hot water systems, and boiler operations.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to work on ladders, lifts to access equipment as needed.
  • Must be able to lift heavy equipment and work in elevated areas.
  • Requires walking, standing, climbing ladders, and working at varying heights and outdoor temperatures.
  • Ability to squat, bend, climb, stoop and comfortably lift 75 lbs.
  • Requires travel between project sites.
  • Ability to pass a full background screening that includes a criminal background, drug test, and driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with air balancing and static pressure diagnostics is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform system start-ups, observe operation, and interpret gauges and instruments to ensure proper functionality.
  • Adjust mechanisms such as valves, controls, and pumps to regulate fluid levels, pressure, and system temperatures.
  • Diagnose, service, and repair a variety of commercial HVAC equipment, including: DX equipment, Water source heat pumps, Gas-fired and electric heating systems, Direct expansion (DX) air conditioning systems, Low-voltage temperature control systems, Air handling equipment and duct systems, Hydronic cooling and heating systems, Chilled and hot water systems and boilers.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance, including cleaning condenser and evaporator coils, fans, and ductwork, and replacing air filters.
  • Identify and replace defective or worn parts to maintain proper system operation.
  • Assist with air balancing and assess static pressure in HVAC systems.
