About The Position
The RN provides direct nursing care to patients in a skilled nursing and long-term care facility and helps manage the nursing unit. The role provides direct oversight to nurse aides and ensures excellent, resident-centered care. The RN helps meet the needs of residents, their families, and nursing aides throughout care delivery. Full-time day and night positions are available; the posting is for an RN working full time on days. Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current license in the state where practicing.
- Maintain licensure by completing continuing education requirements.
- Current CPR certification.
- Sincere desire to work with elderly people and enjoy working directly with residents, staff, and families.
- Good organizational skills and follow-up when patient situations require it.
Responsibilities
- Assist with responsibility for total patient care within the nursing unit and management of the unit.
- Provide direct nursing care to patients.
- Carry out administrative and patient-care duties as directed by the ADON or DON.
- Supervise nurse associates and take responsibility for their actions and care, including monitoring compliance with applicable policies and procedures.
- Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders for each patient.
- Instruct and observe care to ensure it is implemented according to physician or clinician direction or standards of practice.
- Assist with and direct patient admissions and discharges.
- Provide direct oversight to nurse aides and promote excellent care delivery on nursing units.
- Help ensure the needs of residents, resident families, and nursing aides are met during care delivery.
