About The Position
Provides professional nursing care to patients and families in an acute clinical care environment, guided by the SMHCS nursing professional practice model and in accordance with the ANA's Standards of Professional Practice. This is a seasonal cardiac nursing contract lasting 14–16 weeks. Contract start dates are available in November and December 2026 and on January 4, 2027, with contracts ending in March or April 2027, depending on the start date. January 18, 2027 is the final contract start date; that contract lasts 14 weeks and ends April 25, 2027.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or a diploma program.
- For new hires after 2012, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) is required within the timeframe specified in the New Hire BSN Agreement policy (126.045).
- Basic working knowledge of commonly used computer applications.
- BLS (Basic Life Support/CPR).
- Florida Registered Nurse license.
Nice To Haves
- Certification in a nursing specialty area.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support).
- BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) is listed as preferred education.
