Under the general supervision of the Director and Clinical Manager, the RN is responsible for providing quality patient care using the nursing process, directing other nursing staff, and managing the operation of the assigned unit on the assigned shift. This role may require the employee to be on call and work overtime as needed by the hospital. The position involves performing initial patient assessments, developing and updating care plans, documenting patient information, coordinating bedside care, administering medications, communicating with physicians and families, supervising patient care, checking emergency equipment, and serving as a primary caregiver, team leader, or charge nurse. The RN also assists in orienting new personnel, communicates information to other shifts and departments, and assists external agencies as needed. Additionally, the role includes ensuring the proper segregation and safe disposal of hazardous pharmaceutical waste.
