About The Position
The Ambulatory Nurse utilizes a systematic approach to nursing by incorporating assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation into nursing practice. The nurse provides healthcare to individuals, families, and communities within the RN scope of practice as defined by the Illinois Board of Nursing. The role provides and facilitates competent patient and family care, supports adherence to standards of care and scope of practice, and ensures complete and accurate documentation. It also includes health and wellness education, precepting and supporting the development of staff and healthcare students, leading initiatives to improve care quality or clinical outcomes, and assisting the Nursing Supervisor/coordinator with departmental standing orders.
Requirements
- Associate's degree.
- Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) within 30 days.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) within 1 year.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) within 1 year.
Responsibilities
- Provide and facilitate competent health care for patients and families in the area of practice.
- Ensure adherence to established standards of care and scope of practice.
- Ensure documentation of care is complete and accurate.
- Provide health and wellness education to individuals and groups.
- Act as a preceptor and support the development of other staff and healthcare students.
- Provide leadership for initiatives designed to improve the quality of care or clinical outcomes.
- Assist the Nursing Supervisor/coordinator in developing departmental standing orders.
