At Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital for Rehabilitation, nurses help children and families move forward by providing care, building meaningful relationships, supporting patient milestones, educating families, and helping prepare them for the transition home. The 24-hour inpatient hospital serves infants, children, and adolescents with complex medical and rehabilitation needs. Nurses may work across three specialized areas: the Rehabilitation Unit, which cares for children recovering from injuries, burns, surgeries, severe illnesses, wounds, and other conditions requiring intensive rehabilitation; the Pain Program, which supports children and adolescents with chronic pain in partnership with an interdisciplinary team; and the Pediatric Medical Unit, which cares for patients with complex needs such as cardiac and respiratory conditions, tracheostomies, ventilator dependence, neonatal abstinence syndrome, central lines, post-transplant care, long-term antibiotic or TPN therapy, and enteral nutrition. Nurses are oriented to all three areas and care for a diverse pediatric population according to patient needs and census. The role is part of a collaborative team that uses daily interdisciplinary rounds to coordinate care. Physicians and respiratory therapists are on site 24/7. The position works nights, 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., and requires a weekend and holiday rotation.
