As a Clinical Technician, you will play an important role in supporting pediatric patients and their families while helping create a safe, compassionate and positive care environment. You will assist with vital signs, bathing, dressing changes, diaper changes and other basic patient care needs while partnering closely with nurses and the care team. You may also support telemetry unit responsibilities, including cleaning toys, checking the medication room for expired supplies and serving as a patient sitter when needed. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children, including those with tracheostomies, special needs and complex care needs. Successful Clinical Technicians are compassionate, outgoing and comfortable working with children and families. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential, along with the flexibility to adapt to the needs of the unit and patients. Pediatric healthcare experience is preferred, and caregivers should be comfortable providing hands-on care to children with a variety of medical needs. A caregiver in this position works PRN, day/evening/night/weekend, 7:00am—7:30pm.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (If you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it during your new hire period)
  • Nursing students required to have BLS prior to hire
  • One year of recent, full-time patient care experience
  • Nursing student who has completed at least one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school program
  • Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1)

Responsibilities

  • Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN. Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter.
  • Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
  • Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
