Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital for Rehabilitation is a 24-hour inpatient hospital caring for infants, children and adolescents with complex medical and rehabilitation needs. Nurses work alongside therapists, physicians and other team members to help children build the skills, confidence and independence needed to participate in the world after leaving the hospital. They get to know patients and families, celebrate milestones, provide education and support families as they transition home. Nurses are oriented to three specialized areas and may provide care across them based on patient needs and census. The Rehabilitation Unit serves children recovering from traumatic brain or spinal cord injuries, burns, complex surgeries, severe illnesses, wounds and other conditions requiring intensive rehabilitation. The Pain Program provides specialized care for children and adolescents with chronic pain, in partnership with an interdisciplinary team. The Pediatric Medical Unit cares for children with complex needs, including cardiac and respiratory conditions, tracheostomies, ventilator dependence, neonatal abstinence syndrome, central lines, post-transplant care, long-term antibiotic or TPN therapy, and enteral nutrition through gastrostomy tubes and buttons. This PRN role is supported by daily interdisciplinary rounds and an experienced multidisciplinary team, with physicians and respiratory therapists on site 24/7. It offers 4-, 8- or 12-hour shifts on days or nights. Some weekend hours are expected, along with a commitment to work one summer holiday and one winter holiday.
