About The Position

The RN Surgical Services position delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably in accordance with American Nurses Association (ANA) professional standards and Michigan law. The nurse demonstrates competency using the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The role upholds ANA standards of professional performance, including ethical and culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health, while striving to achieve optimal outcomes.

The Surgery Department has three operating rooms, a dedicated C-section operating room, and an endoscopy suite. It serves general surgery, OB/GYN, ophthalmology, podiatry, and orthopedic specialties. The position is based at Gerber Hospital in Fremont, Michigan, and is full-time with a variable shift and 36 scheduled hours per week.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Nursing.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing required within five years.
• Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days.
• AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within six months.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care responsibly and accountably in accordance with ANA professional standards and Michigan law.
• Use the nursing process to assess, diagnose, identify outcomes, plan, implement, and evaluate care.
