About The Position

The RN Surgical Services position provides nursing care in a hospital-based surgical services department serving inpatient and outpatient patients. The Big Rapids Surgical Service department has four operating rooms, including a dedicated C-section suite, and provides General, OB/GYNE, Ophthalmology, Urology, Orthopedics, and podiatry services. The interdisciplinary team focuses on high-quality care, safety, transparency, and patient experience.

The nurse delivers care responsibly and accountably in accordance with American Nurses Association standards and Michigan law. The role uses the nursing process—assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation—to demonstrate competency and help achieve optimal patient outcomes. The nurse also upholds professional performance standards through ethical and culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Nursing required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required within five years.
• Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days.
• AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within six months.
