About The Position

The Department of Vascular Surgery at Cleveland Clinic is a nationally recognized leader in the treatment of complex vascular disease, performing more than 8,000 procedures annually. Our multidisciplinary team provides comprehensive care for patients with aneurysmal, peripheral, cerebrovascular, arterial, venous, and dialysis access conditions. Through close collaboration with specialists in cardiac surgery, cardiology, and vascular medicine, we offer advanced treatment options utilizing both traditional open surgical techniques and the latest endovascular technologies, consistently delivering exceptional patient outcomes. The department also features dedicated centers focused on minimally invasive venous disease treatment and comprehensive dialysis access management. As a Registered Nurse in Vascular Surgery, you will have the unique opportunity to develop expertise in both the circulating and scrub nurse roles from the start of your career. OR nurses serve as essential patient advocates, coordinating care throughout the surgical procedure while ensuring patient safety and maintaining the highest standards of sterile technique. Scrub nurses gain advanced technical skills through instrument preparation, surgical setup, and management of complex procedural workflows. This highly specialized environment offers a 1:1 patient focus, extensive professional growth, and the opportunity to work alongside world-class surgeons and interdisciplinary teams. A caregiver in this position works days| 6:30am—3:00pm or 6:30am—7:00pm w/ on-call and 1 hour call window requirements| Orientation is 6 months| After orientation shift will be assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN, BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • New graduate RN OR less than one year of RN work experience

Responsibilities

  • Participate in a residency core curriculum based on surgery core learning needs.
  • Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.
  • Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patient preference and resource availability).
  • Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk.
  • Seek supervision, consultation and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.
  • Document in patients’ medical records.
