RN - Surgery Center Pre-Op and Post-Op
About The Position
The RN on the Pre/Post Surgery Team provides nursing care to patients before or after surgical procedures, helping ensure their needs are met and care is timely and appropriate. The role includes preparing bays and making pre- and post-operative phone calls to patients. The Surgery Center at Martin North Hospital serves specialties including abdominal and hernia surgery, bariatric and metabolic surgery, breast disease and surgery, cardiothoracic and interventional cardiology surgery, colorectal and gastrointestinal surgery, surgical endoscopy and pain management, and surgical oncology. The position offers access to Cleveland Clinic professional and educational resources, including online courses, committee involvement, and Nursing School. The posting describes the role as PRN, with varying workdays and schedules of 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m. or 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN, or BSN program).
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
- One year of current acute care RN experience or licensed military RN experience.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Two years of recent clinical nursing experience.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care.
- Implement, monitor, evaluate, update, and revise patient care plans.
- Monitor, record, document, and communicate patients’ conditions.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
- Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
- Educate patients and their families.
- Prepare patient bays.
- Make pre-operative and post-operative phone calls to patients.
