The RN Shift Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day coordination and oversight of all aspects of his/her assigned clinical unit. This role involves ensuring adequate staffing, leading resident care meetings, monitoring the provision of care by licensed nurses and CNAs, reviewing resident medical records, identifying staff educational needs, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, including HIPAA. The supervisor also manages work assignments, initiates disciplinary action when necessary, handles grievances, ensures physician orders are followed, assists with performance evaluations, and oversees the admission process and documentation. Additionally, the role includes monitoring medication passes, providing direct nursing care as needed, participating in continuing education, ensuring staff adherence to policies and procedures, and assisting with investigations of resident abuse allegations and survey processes.
