About this unit 2 South is a 41-bed Orthopedic and Progressive Care unit at Butterworth Hospital. The unit cares for a diverse patient population, including both medical and surgical patients, providing team members with broad clinical exposure and opportunities for professional growth. The orthopedic population includes patients with orthopedic trauma, orthopedic oncology conditions, hip and spine fractures, and those recovering from spine surgery. The progressive care and medical-surgical overflow population includes patients with COPD, pneumonia, sepsis, congestive heart failure, respiratory failure, those requiring cardiac drips or BiPAP support, and post-operative cardiac patients recovering from procedures such as heart ablations and pacemaker replacements. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) Required.
• 2 years of relevant clinical nursing experience Required.
• Skills, knowledge, abilities typically gained through 1+ year of related clinical experience in area of specialty Required.
• MI RN license Required.
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required.
• AHA Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) 180 days Required.
• Corewell Health Nurse Supervisors are REQUIRED to obtain their Nursing Administration or Professional/Specialty Certification within 12 months of assuming the role, or within 12 months of achieving eligibility to sit for the exam if not eligible upon hire into the role.

Nice To Haves

• Master's Degree nursing (MSN) Preferred.
• 2 years of recent relevant leadership (i.e., Charge Nurse, Shared Leadership position, Magnet Champion, QSO) (based on Corewell Health entity) Preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assumes shift accountability for managing, supervising, and coordinating the operational and financial effectiveness and efficiency of the nursing service/ unit of the hospital.
• Assisting with clinical support, unit based goal setting, program development, fiscal management, resource allocation, standards of care, policy and procedure development and interpretation, performance improvement, performance correction, and coaching and mentoring.
