About The Position

The Registered Nurse coordinates clinical activities for patients in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Using the nursing process, the RN organizes, plans, implements, and evaluates care according to each patient’s specific needs. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Unit Assistants, and Certified Nursing Assistants, and works within the State Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies, procedures, and nursing standards. The RN supports department and hospital goals and objectives. Nursing staff in Children’s Services are required to float to the PICU and Pediatrics as needed. The position is scheduled for 36 hours per week.

Requirements

• Successfully complete a board-certified nursing program.
• Hold current Louisiana RN licensure.
• Current BLS certification upon hire.
• Obtain NRP and PALS certifications within 90 days of hire.
• ILCOR-provided certification courses must include a manikin check-off.
• Possess good physical health and be able to stand, sit, or walk for long periods.
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
• Physical demands include constant seeing; frequent lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, reaching, handling/feeling, talking, and hearing; and occasional climbing, stooping, and crouching.

Nice To Haves

• One year of Level IV NICU experience within the past 12 months, or two years of Level III NICU experience within the past three years.
