About The Position

The Registered Nurse coordinates clinical activities for patients in the NICU, using the nursing process and skills in organization, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide care tailored to each patient's needs. The role supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Unit Assistants, and Certified Nursing Assistants, and operates within the State Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies, procedures, and nursing standards. The nurse supports department and hospital goals and objectives. Nursing staff in Children’s Services must float to the PICU and Pediatrics as needed. The position is scheduled for 36 hours per week.

Requirements

• Successfully complete a Board Certified Nursing Program.
• Hold current Louisiana RN licensure.
• Hold current BLS certification upon hire.
• Obtain NRP and PALS certifications within 90 days of hire.
• Required ILCOR-provided certification courses must include a manikin check-off.
• Possess good physical health and be able to stand, sit, or walk for long periods.
• Be able to lift at least 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• One year of Level IV NICU experience within the past 12 months, or two years of Level III NICU experience within the past three years.
